From the Plainfield Sun December 7, 1894 DEATH OF WILLIAM DEWITT William Dewitt died at his son's home in the town of Leola, Nov. 3, 1894 and the interment was in the Colburn cemetery, Nov. 5th. Mr. Dewitt was born at Solsbury, N.Y., on February 28, 1816. In 1842 he was married to Hannah Cegardis and to them were born 8 children - 6 boys and 2 girls. They came to Wisconsin in 1862 and settled in the town of Plainfield. In 1877 Mr. Dewitt moved to Minnesota, where he remained 5 years, when he returned to Wis., and settled in the town of Leola, where he died. His wife and 6 children survive him, Wm. and John Dewitt of Leola, Mrs. J. C. Welton, of Plainfield, Elic Dewitt, of Franklin, Minn., Mrs. Ed Cassidy, of Minn. and Al. Dewitt, of Phillips, Wis.
