March 7, 2001 Pg 10 Section B Selma Ruth Cliff, age 87, of Montello, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 in Berlin Memorial Hospital, Berlin. Funeral services are today, March 7, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Arkdale, with Rev. Ronald Hanson officiating. Interment will be in the East Arkdale Cemetery. Selma was born Dec. 13, 1913 in Zion, Ill., the daughter of Heinrich and Amelia (Hoffman) Lehman. She married Merle I. Cliff on Sept. 1, 1934 in Woodstock, Ill. They moved to the Town of Big Flats in 1971 from Waukegan, Ill., and in 1977, they moved to Adams. She lived in Adams until moving to Plover in 1994 to live with her daughter, Lorraine. They moved to Montello about 1 1/2 years ago. Selma was a member of the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed her family, gardening, picking wild berries and making jelly and jams. She was preceded in death by her parents (Heinrich and Amelia); husband Merle (June 15, 1988); son Marvin (Oct. 30, 1993); 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include: daughter, Lorraine (Wayne) Mink of Montello; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Lester) Elsbury of Wadsworth, Ill.; and grandchildren, Keith (Joann) Wartzenluft, Cindy (Terry) Stemper, Lorilynn (Wendel) Podoll, Ronald Cliff, Joseph (Beth) Wartzenluft, Bradley Cliff, David Cliff, Curtis (Robin) Cliff, Katrina (Howard Thomas) Cliff and Michael (Tammy) Wartzenluft. Also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
