MATHEA JOHNSON Source: Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune, Monday, October 1, 1956 Mrs. Mathea Johnson Succumbs at Mauston Surnames include: Johnson, Rem, Hendrickson [Henriksen], Jensen, Koenecke, Stein [Steen], Ellis, Worshum [Warshauer] FRIENDSHIP--Mrs. Mathea J. Johnson, Strongs Prairie, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Mauston Hospital. She had been in poor health for some time. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Arkdale Lutheran Church, the Rev. R. N. Rem officiating. Burial will be in Hans Edwardson Cemetery at Arkdale. The former Marthea Johnson was born in Strongs Prairie Dec. 4, 1885 and was married to Walter Johnson June 2, 1906. He died in 1936. Surviviors include a half brother, William Hendrickson; two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Jensen and Mrs. Ethel Koenecke, all of Arkdale; and three other sisters, Mrs. Marie Stein, Chicago; Mrs. Ida Ellis and Mrs. Esther Worshum, both of Milwaukee.
