Giving Credit

Give credit where credit is due. I like to see an email link and a link back to the main page of your site at the bottom of each page. I did a search the other day, and wanted to email the webmaster for additional info on something. I had no way of getting of him or her because there was no email link.

It is important to give credit to those that subscribed the information on your pages or submitted the information to your website. I prefer to add the lines submitted by researcher/see contributors page by all the entries submitted by other people.

On the contributors page, I add the surname of the data they submitted. I also add their email address. Because they are living people, I prefer to maintain their privact and only put the first name and last initial of the submitter unless they request otherwise.

There are various ways to encrypt the email address so that your pages are not a haven for spammers to grab email addresses.

Be sure to also give credit for any graphics or images you use on your sites. It is easy to right click and take an image off a page but be sure to give credit to the person you got it from. This is also a good way to increase link popularity on your page. If you give credit, the other person may in turn link back to your page.
